Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering, computer sciences, or quantitative fields (maths, physics...).
  • You have 3+ years of experience building software projects, and 2+ years of experience with machine learning.
  • You work as a researcher: you develop new hypotheses, test them and confirm or refute them. You can write a report to communicate your results. You care for details.
  • You are not afraid of experimenting and providing proofs of concept.
  • You know a high-level programming language (Python, Go, Java, R…) and are willing to learn Python.
  • You know how to use a machine learning framework (eg. Pytorch).
  • You have a keen interest in reinforcement learning.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Furthermore, we are mostly French-speaking, so you should be able to understand French.


Nice to have

  • Previous experience in: research; applied research around robotics; artificial intelligence; data engineering; or image processing.
  • Knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS) or Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab.
  • Technical or Scientific writing skills.
  • Any other programming language.
  • Any other spoken language.

The project

Alpaflow is currently researching how to “push the envelope” on some hard problems in robotics: how to build a world model with cheap 2D cameras, how to control a lot of low-degree-of-freedom end effectors, how to manage end-to-end differentiable control loops… ?

We are researching in the textile industry for the moment, and sewing automation is on the radar!
